About the Program
The Accounting and Tax Applications Program was established in 2000 to meet the needs of public institutions and private sector organizations in the fields of accounting and tax applications. Education and training activities were initiated in the 2000-2001 academic year under the name of “Accounting” program within the Bartın Vocational School affiliated to Zonguldak Karaelmas University. With the establishment of Bartın University in 2008, the relevant Vocational School was transferred to the newly established university. With the program update made in 2009, the name of the program was changed to “Accounting and Tax Applications”; In 2012, within the framework of the structural arrangements of the Council of Higher Education, the program began to continue its education and training activities under the “Accounting and Tax” department.
Program Educational Purpose
With a student-centered approach, in order to train the qualified human resources needed by businesses and public institutions in the fields of accounting and tax; To train professional staff who are competent in legislation, can effectively manage accounting processes, can perform financial analysis, have knowledge and skills regarding tax practices, can use technology effectively, are committed to ethical values, and are entrepreneurial and innovative.
Program Educational Objectives
The educational objectives of the Accounting and Tax Applications program determined with a student-centered approach are as follows:
1 . To learn and apply the basic concepts of general accounting, cost accounting and management accounting.
2. To have knowledge about tax law and tax applications, to be able to prepare tax returns.
3. To prepare, analyze and interpret financial statements.
4. To be able to effectively use the accounting software (Luca etc.) required to carry out accounting processes.
5. To be able to understand the basic principles of business and finance and relate them to accounting processes.
6. To be able to follow economic developments and understand their effects on accounting and tax processes.
7. To be able to use computer software and hardware at the basic level required by the field, to be proficient in digital accounting applications such as e-ledger, e-invoice, e-archive.
8. To have awareness of quality, business ethics, occupational health and safety, environmental protection and social responsibility in business processes.
9. To be entrepreneurial individuals who can apply their professional knowledge and skills independently.
Accounting and Tax Applications Program Outcomes
1. Has command of professional principles and legal regulations in performing accounting and tax services and explains auditing and accounting standards.
2. Prepares and analyzes financial statements.
3. Relates accounting and tax information to disciplines such as economics, sociology, law.
4. Explains the procedures and principles regarding commercial information, documents, ledgers and notifications and their applications in electronic environment.
5. Has basic, current and applied information regarding accounting and tax field.
6. Has knowledge about occupational health and safety, environmental awareness and quality processes.
7. Follows current developments and applications regarding accounting and tax field and uses them effectively.
8. Uses information technologies (software, program, animation etc.) regarding accounting and tax field effectively.
9. Has the ability to evaluate problems and issues independently with an analytical and critical approach and present solution proposals in accounting and tax field.
10. Can effectively present thoughts in written and verbal communication at the level of knowledge and skills and express them in an understandable manner.
11. Takes responsibility as a team member to solve unforeseen complex problems encountered in applications related to accounting and taxation.
12. Has awareness of career management and lifelong learning.
13. Has social, scientific, cultural and ethical values in the stages of collecting, applying and announcing the results of data related to his field.
14. Follows the information in his field using a foreign language and communicates with his colleagues.
Admission Requirements
Students are accepted with the YKS (Higher Education Institutions Exam) - TYT (Basic Proficiency Test) score organized by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Candidates can enter higher education institutions with a score that is a combination of the score they receive from the exam and their secondary school achievement score average.
Graduation Requirements
Students who have successfully passed the compulsory courses specified in the course plan and the minimum number of elective courses that must be taken, completed their compulsory internship, received at least 120 credits and have a 2.00/4 GPA can graduate.
Degree to be Obtained
After successfully completing all the conditions in the curriculum and graduation requirements, students graduate with an associate degree in the field of "Accounting and Taxation". Students who graduate from this department are entitled to receive an associate degree and the title of Professional Member.
Transfer to the Next Level
Students who graduate from this program will be able to transfer to undergraduate programs such as Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Economics, Banking, Finance, Insurance, Labor Economics and Industrial Relations, International Business, International Finance, Management Information Systems with the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS). In addition, graduates can transfer to Anadolu University Open Education undergraduate programs with DGS. The programs that can be transferred are; Labor Economics and Industrial Relations, Economics, Public Administration, Finance, International Relations, Business Administration, Accommodation Management.
Employment Opportunities
Accounting and Tax Applications program graduates have a wide range of employment in the public and private sectors. Graduates can work in financial consultancy offices, accounting departments, tax offices, financial institutions and auditing firms. In addition, they can work in accounting and finance units of companies as accounting personnel, pre-accounting personnel, payroll specialist or tax consultant. They also have the chance to be employed as civil servants in public institutions with the Public Personnel Selection Exam (KPSS). There are also opportunities to open their own businesses and become freelance accountants.
Exam Evaluation
Multiple evaluation methods are used in measurement and evaluation, and success in courses is determined according to the university's relative evaluation system application principles.

Degree and Level Earned
After students successfully complete all the conditions in the curriculum program and graduation requirements, they graduate with an Associate's Degree in the field of "Accounting and Tax". Students who graduate from this department are entitled to receive an associate's degree and the title of Professional Member.
Degree Requirements and Rules Earned
Students studying in this program must have a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and must be successful by receiving at least a DD grade in all courses stipulated in the curriculum in order to graduate. The minimum ECTS to be taken for graduation is 120. Students are also required to complete their compulsory internships within the specified period.
